Try our game: The Cloud of Negativity™ [BETA]
Overview
One of the biggest factors in creating a POP! Culture® is to blast out negativity and get rid of the red tape that prevents EVERYONE from constantly sharing and implementing new ideas. In this game you choose how well you think ideas flow through your team, group, or organization and then smash the negative nonsense that gets in the way of creating an innovative culture. The goal of the game The goal is for the user to experience how much more energy it takes to deal with negativity and red tape when they just keep coming at you. Although you still may score a lot of points, notice how much more effort it takes - both physical and mental - to play each level. The clouds that come at you are full of negative phrases like:
The red tape, is, well, red tape. Enough said. To get the full experience try each level starting with the easiest ("Ideas are super easy to get implemented at my company") then move to the second and third levels. Again, what we want you to do is FEEL how much easier the game is to play when negativity is easily removed. In our testing people consistently scored higher on the easiest level than the middle and most difficult levels when playing the web based version. The apps can make it easy to score but the physical and mental efforts appeared to be higher. Reflection questions after you play the game 1. How do negativity and red tape effect innovation and creativity? 2. How much more energy and effort (both physical and mental) did it take to play the game at the higher levels? How does this relate to fostering innovation is a work or school environment? 3. Assume you scored the same amount of points in each level but the second and third took more effort. How does this relate to employees being willing to share and try to implement new ideas when there is a lot of red tape and negativity? Would they be more inclined to stay at a company where they can get their ideas implemented but it takes a lot of effort or leave and go to a company where they can get their ideas implemented with less effort? Sounds like a silly question, doesn't it? This is not designed to be a stand alone game...and it is NOT perfect The Cloud of Negativity is the first of many games that The Innovation Company will be releasing over the next several months. Each game will be designed to be part of a bigger picture/lesson for the user. We could have waited to release them all at once but hey, what fun is that and how would we learn as we go? In addition, our games are being designed to be used as experiences that involve guided reflection for the user via online questions in a bigger overall process and curriculum. The Innovation Company subscribes to the Agile/rapid iteration approach to product development. Design, release, get feedback, adjust....and repeat, repeat, repeat. We don't have all the answers so our belief is to launch our first game - many more are coming - knowing that one of the keys to our success will be incorporating feedback from users. Please send us your feedback by clicking here. Why the characters Mustard and Corn? The characters are inspired by our book, Mustard Doesn't Go On! Corn - how respect, openness, and a simple process for innovation can lead to great ideas. Click here to learn more about the book. When you are done please share to social media via the links in the game and get the word out that innovation is EASY! You can also post a link to this page using the social icons above. |
